To meet our goals the Hocking River Commission (HRC) acts as a nonprofit land trust and purchases riparian (riverside) property for conservation and preservation. We look for land with mature riparian (riverside) forest and we acquire parcels through grant writing. HRC allows access to these areas for recreation as started in our goals. Our vision of the Hocking River is a linear park through Athens, Hocking, and Fairfield Counties.
