The East State Street access point is for PULL OUT ONLY. The access point is upstream of White’s Mill Falls. The White’s Mill Falls are very dangerous with a deadly undertow and you DO NOT canoe over the falls. You can put in below the fall at the Habitat for Humanity, a.k.a. “The Little Red School House” on West Union Street, Athens. But the paddling is poor downstream of White’s Mill since you would be in the channelized portion of the river.
